The title of today’s blog is a line from Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”

Based on that line alone one might venture a guess the song is about lamenting lost opportunities and chances.

All you have to do is look at the title of the song to know it’s a song about taking advantage of every opportunity in life, My Way.

Today is February 1. According to one statistical study 36% of us have already failed in the new year’s resolutions we set and started on January 1. By the end of June that number will be up to a 54% failure rate.

Maybe you’re experiencing the same feeling you had last year at this very same time; regret.

Far too many of us, me included, spend way too much time in the land of regret. It’s a land that sucks us in and makes us very comfortable. We like being comfortable. There’s no pain. There’s no accountability. There’s no finger pointing. There’s no growth.

Tomorrow, Feb. 2., is a new day. It’s a new opportunity. What happened or didn’t happen yesterday is behind us. What can you accomplish today.

Today I’m going to share with you two videos on regret and new opportunity that I have just come across in the last few days. Both of these videos had an impact on me and I hope they will on you as well.

Here’s the first one:

Here’s the second:

Last week I checked an item off my bucket list. I did a stand up comedy routine at an open mic comedy night.

I was scared to death. However, as the courage guy I knew I needed to do this.

I’m sure those in the audience will say that my performance truly was both regrettable and forgettable.

For me, however, when, as Frank Sinatra says, the end is near, I won’t regret that I never did it.

What’s on your bucket list that you continually push out to next week or next month or next year?

What are the excuses you use over and over again for not checking something off?

I know people who don’t even have a list for the sole purpose of not having to do anything so they don’t have any regrets! And they still have regrets.

When will you muster up the courage to just do it and not worry about being embarrassed, or failing, or what someone else might think?

Tomorrow, Feb. 2, you will have a clean sheet of ice. Go for it!

For what is a man, what has he got?

If not, himself, then he has naught.

To say the things he truly feels;

And not the words of one who kneels.

The record shows I took the blows –

And did it my way!   Frank Sinatra
